About My Book
A book that says what you want to say when you think, “I don’t know what to say”
2009 saw the launch of my book Facing Death: A Companion in Words and Images. It is an entirely unique book intended for the use of the dying and those who care about and for them. It understands death to be, though unwanted in many cases, an inevitable and normal part of life.
Knowing that both the capacity for extensive reading and the presence of natural beauty can be very limited towards the end of life, this book combines short, meaningful blocks of text with stunning nature photographs in a gift book that can also function as a journal and a place to store notes, cards and pictures.
The ideal gift for someone facing their own death and/or for their loved ones, Facing Death has already been proven to help open the door to conversations about what really matters between the person who is dying and those who accompany them, both friends and family, and professionals. Because it can be customized, it may itself become a keepsake.
The book has won three awards to date:
- the 2009 USA Book News National Best Book Award in the Spirituality: Journaling & Quotes category,
- the 2010Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence in Publishing in the Gift Book category, and
- the 2010 National Mature Market Silver Award in the Book (Editorial) category.
